Wyfold Vineyard Rosé 2020
English Quality Sparkling Wine
Loading...
Former winner of both IWC and IWSC Best English Sparkling rosé, Wyfold leads the field. It's a 2-hectare Oxfordshire estate, planted on fine gravel soils. From a ‘dream’ vintage, it’s a fizz with lovely berry ripeness, complexity and minerality.

The Wine
In 2003 Barbara Laithwaite planted 4,000 vines on a hectare of the Chiltern Hills. The first release, 10 years later, was immediately voted ‘Top English Sparkling’, triumphing at the same time over well-known Champagnes. Other great awards have followed, including IWC’s 2023 Best English Sparkling Rosé and the IWSC 2024 Trophy also for her Rosé. All from Barbara's south-facing, now two-hectare vineyard on the stony gravel soil of the Thames terraces. Only classic Champagne grapes are grown, all three in this delicious, fine pink fizz. It’s crafted to capture classic biscuity notes, red berry hints, along with brisk minerality, reflecting the cool microclimate of this 100m-altitude site. Who needs Champagne when English fizz is this good?
