The Wine

A brilliant addition to our range of fine Tuscan reds, Vecciano is the flagship red from Paolo and Marco Barbanera’s estate in Piazze, southern Tuscany. It’s a rich blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, all picked by hand and the wine aged in French oak barrels for 18 months to gain lavish complexity. Winemaker is third generation Sofia Barbanera, with assistance from world famous wine consultant Mario Ercolino. Luca Maroni’s acclaimed wine guide has awarded this wine an amazing 99 points three vintages in succession, and named it ‘Best Italian Red Wine 2012’, praising it as “A priceless champion red – one of the all time Super Tuscan greats.” Decant before serving – we recommend with roast pork belly or steak and mustard cream sauce.
