The Wine
The Sartirano family has been making wine in Italy’s Piedmont region for four generations, since 1871. Over the years, they’ve gradually expanded the estate, adding 27 hectares of Barolo’s finest south-facing vineyards in 1988. In 2002, they bought the Ghercina property in Novello, in the heart of the famed Langhe region. It was here that the once-forgotten Nas-cetta grape was rediscovered – entirely by accident. Some growers stumbled across bottles with over 10 years of age, uncorked them, and were amazed by how delicious the wine was. Intrigued, they went searching for the low-yielding vines … and have since reintroduced a few hectares. Expect floral, honeyed notes, zapped through with mineral freshness. Great with roast chicken.

Great character, with herbal notes, fruit such as pears, lemon and white peach. Really good wine
