The Wine
Established in 1844, Penfolds take a uniquely Australian approach to quality with their obsession for securing the best parcels of fruit available in each vintage. Only then will the brilliant Peter Gago and his team work their magic. Drawing inspiration from the wines of the southern Rhône, Penfolds introduced, with the 1992 vintage, their Barossa Valley Shiraz Grenache Mataro (known as GSM), which was elevated to the Bin range in 1998. The magnificent 2014 vintage sees this world class favourite achieve a new peak of power and complexity. Sourced from rare, low yielding vines, some over a century old, and aged in seasoned oak for a year, this inky black masterpiece is a fine partner to dishes such as venison or a rich vegetable lasagne.
