The Wine
Chile’s ocean-cooled Casablanca vineyards excel with grape varieties Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. One of the first winemakers to discover this was Pablo Morande in 1982, awarded Winemaking Legend by Tim Atkin MW. Founded a decade later, his winery has also scooped numerous awards – Winery of the Year five times, Best Sparkling Wine in Chile nine times, Top Sweet Wine in 2021 and much more. This is an elegant, midweight red made purely from Pinot Noir from the winery’s Casablanca vineyards. Plentiful sunshine and cooling breezes result in healthy, ripe, aromatic fruit with good freshness. Barrel ageing lends a little oak complexity and roundness. An excellent choice with tuna, salmon and white meats, roasted vegetables or creamy cheese.
