Domaine Bachelet-Monnot Maranges 1er Cru La Fussière Rouge 2019

Bachelet brothers Marc and Alexandre set up a 10-hectare estate in Burgundy in 2005 and from their first vintage, they've attracted enormous praise from critics worldwide. Wine Advocate wrote in 2021, "brothers Mark and Alexandre preside over a superb portfolio of serious, structured whites and demonstrative, pleasure-bent reds." Vinous described them as "on fire over recent vintages." Their estate includes superb vineyards in Maranges, Santenay and Puligny, plus a handful more they have enfermage (under their management), all worked organically. Using grapes from the highest Maranges vineyard, now 50 years old, fermented whole bunch with indigenous yeast, this is a beautiful, expressive red. Decant early or cellar. A dream with duck.
