Gold medal Rhône red from a vintage called “unmissable” by Decanter. It’s from Châteauneuf de Gadagne, an appellation next door to the big name Châteauneuf, making wines that are very similar. A sumptuous, velvet fruit red to rival its neighbour.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.
But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

The Wine
Not Châteauneuf du Pape, but Châteauneuf de Gadagne. As Decanter says, their “similarity and shared origins are so striking”. The vineyards could be carbon copies – gnarled old bush vines grown among giant, rolled pebbles. Both towns have been around for centuries. Gadagne is the older of the two, dating back to 1150. So locals believe their wines should have the name Châteauneuf on the label: Châteauneuf de Gadagne. They went to court and the big boys won. That doesn’t stop Gadagne making great wines described by Decanter as “wines of powerful personality with a force, an energy, an intensity”. Still with Côtes du Rhône Villages on the label, they stay very well priced. Enjoy this sumptuous red from Château Quilex in a terrific vintage.
