The Wine
Château d'Ardennes is an historic property in the Graves, an appellation on the left bank of the Garonne River. Graves’ natural qualities make it ideal for growing high quality grapes. From the gravelly soils (the namesake of the region) to the moderating influences of the Garonne and surrounding forests, it’s no wonder the Romans were planting vines there almost 2000 years ago. Back in 2014, James Suckling described Bordeaux’s 2011 vintage as "fascinating", saying that he looked forward to drinking the wines in years to come. Now with 11 years maturity, including 12 months in French oak barrels, Château d’Ardennes has come into its own. Merlot-dominant, it shows great finesse with notes of mellow ripe plum, layered with tobacco and spice.
