The Wine
For many Champagne aficionados, the House of Lanson produces the region’s most authentic fizz. Their house style is rich and powerful, and also fresh and energetic thanks to their traditional winemaking techniques. By choosing not to use malolactic fermentation, their Champagnes emphasise the rich fruit character and intense aromatics. Fruit sourced from many different plots is vinified separately, giving winemaker Hervé Dantan an extensive palette of flavours from which to produce the perfect assemblage. Vintage wines like this are only made in exceptional years and only from Grand Cru wines aged for at least five years prior to blending. The 2008 has an amazing array of complex flavours with “pinpoint balance” (Decanter). A real treat.
