The Huguenot Chenin Blanc 2020
Western Cape WO
Chenin Blanc has proved itself truly noble in South Africa. This grape travelled the world from its home in France’s Loire to find that the sunshine steeped vineyards of the Western Cape is also an ideal home. Here in fine exuberant, fruity form.

The Wine
If you want a really refreshing white, brimful of crisp, tropical fruit, Cape Chenin Blanc is a good shout. The Huguenot however is the very best. South African winemakers have demonstrated that this grape makes delicious, easy drinking whites as well as top quality wines that can age, too. This bright, fresh 2020 was made at a cellar in Franschhoek – ‘the French corner’. French Huguenots settled here in the 17th century, bringing with them vines to plant from their homeland, and the area soon become known as the culinary capital of South Africa. Ageing on its lees has lent this white a delicious roundness and creaminess to complement the zesty fruit. The result is a wine perfect for baked white fish, richly sauced chicken, or on its own.
"Excellent wine, great value. One of the few alternatives as well-received as the favoured Sauvignons"
