The 2018 Winemaker of the Year, Bordeaux-born Hervé Fabre, has led the way in Argentina with stunning, old-vine Malbec. Former winner of Best Red of Mendoza and Best Red of Argentina, the 2021 tastes equally dark and velvety with elegant oak spice.

The Wine
Raised in Bordeaux, Hervé Fabre left France in the early 1990s in search of new and more challenging wine territory in which to invest. He was heading for Chile but became side tracked by old Malbec vineyards in Argentina and never left. Hervé now runs a leading estate in Mendoza, and another in Patagonia, and has won hoards of international awards. In 2017, Fabre was awarded Argentina Winery of the Year, in 2018, Winemaker of the Year and this wine took two Trophies for the 2017. Decanter called it, "One of the best wines in the country." The grapes are all taken from Gualtallary in the foothills of the Andes, one of two 'Grand Cru' regions in the Uco Valley. Aged a year in barrel, this is a deep, silky, long-flavoured red. Open early.
