The Dampt brothers – Eric, Emmanuel and Hervé – own top vineyards in Chablis and produce some of the region’s finest wines. And they come at sensible prices too. That’s why, every year, we hot-foot it to their cellar door, eager to try out the new wines. The appellation’s Kimmeridgian clay soils, a risky climate that often only just ripens the grapes (though that might change with global warming!), plus the domaine’s excellent sites, and exacting standards in the vineyard, all conspire to produce such special wines. "Among the very best produced in the last two decades" wrote Wine Advocate of the 2020 vintage. Hay, citrus and bright fruit that’ll develop honeyed intensity as it matures, this is a classic white in handy half-bottle size.
