The Wine
The Bertrand family first came into wine thanks to Gérard Bertrand's grandmother, a formidable lady he has great regard for. His father, Georges, was another legend, who tragically died young in a car accident, leaving the baton to excel with Gérard. He has certainly fulfilled his pledge, buying up immaculately placed estates, bit by bit, so today he has a hugely impressive portfolio of 16 Languedoc estates. The grapes – all native, Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre – come from old vines in Cabrières, an area adored three centuries back by King Louis XIV. Gérard's vision was to create a Grand Cru rosé that would age – wine lovers pay a premium for pink Champagne, why not top pink wine? This is his answer - sold by allocation only!
