Barón de Barbón wines always stand out for supreme quality and value, as you’ll know if you’re a fan of Rioja. This family cellar was founded in 1926 by José Murúa Villaverde, latest in a long line of Rioja winemakers. When he retired the winery was sold, but in 1982 his son Julián Murúa Entrena repurchased the bodega to continue the family tradition. And he has with great success. Now Julián’s highly talented son Javier has joined him. Their vineyards lie in the premium, elevated slopes of Alavesa – the most renowned subregion of Rioja. Aged for two years in French and American oak barrels, this mellow Reserva has a lavish layer of spicy complexity. It’ll show at its best with dishes, such as roast lamb, game pie or rich, butterbean stew.

"An excellent Rioja with depth of character. Priced very well. Will definitely buy again" 5 Star Online Review
