Bertrand is a top wine name in Languedoc. 50 years ago, we worked with George Bertrand. Now it's his son, world-famous Gérard. From the age of 10, his father deemed him tall enough (he's now 6ft 8) to work in the cellar. He obviously learnt well, because his list of trophies since taking over is extensive – Winery of the Year, Winemaker of the Year, World Master Winemaker and he's the leading organic producer of the Languedoc too. Gérard was also a phenomenal rugby player, playing for Narbonne and for France. When he was 22, his father died and he realised there was only time for one passion. Wine won out. This rich, ripe red is a tribute to his rugby-playing hometown, Narbonne, and its rich heritage as a fine wine area since the Romans.

"Rich dark fruit and wild herb aromas draw you in; beautifully smooth and warming" Mark Hoddy
