The Wine
Owner of this Bordeaux estate, Pierre-Yves Joannon, wished to express the Médoc’s grape varieties at their most aromatic and fresh. So, he selected grapes from the highest slopes of the estate, from vines now 50-years-old, and made his first vintage of the wine in 2016. Inspired, he made it again in 2018 – a lovely, ripe vintage that is maturing well, with no rush to drink. Cabernet Sauvignon excels in the Médoc’s fine clay-gravel soils, producing impressive intensity of flavour, complemented here by Merlot and Petit Verdot, and aged in seasoned oak casks for six months. The wine is ageing very gracefully, particularly in this handsome magnum size. Invite the friends, choose the menu and place this grand Bordeaux magnum centre stage.
