The Wine
Marlborough is today the New Zealand hotspot for the best Sauvignon Blanc and Cleighton Cornelius is the Marlborough winemaker who knows everyone and everything that’s going on. Hence his nickname … The Insider. All the vineyards for this lively, fresh new release are family owned – from Jeremy Mackenzie, the Jones family and the Taimate estate. The vineyards lie on two terraces of the Awatere River, some of the oldest in the region, each bringing a different note to the wine, while the vines along the Wairau River contribute more tropical fruit character. All harvested at night to ensure the zingiest of freshness and fruit, this is a very appealing, thirst-quenching white. Just the ticket on its own or with seafood or salads.
