This great value, Gold medal, southern Rhône red is packed with herby black fruit character. If it hailed from any of its neighbouring regions, it would cost a pretty penny. But from this often overlooked IGP, it has a far more pleasing price tag.

Welcome to Orange. It’s a sleepy little town in the southern Rhône where the surrounding vineyards raise spectacularly rich, ripe native varieties like Grenache, Syrah, Marselan and Carignan. The nearest neighbours are famous wine regions Rasteau, Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Châteauneuf-du-Pape. And it’s lucky enough to share the same climate and have similar soils. And in the case of Willem the Silent and Châteauneuf, it shares an award winning winemaker. Not only does Philippe Cambie have scores of awards to his name, he’s in the exclusive band of winemakers who can boast a perfect 100 point score from Robert Parker. 15 of them! Enjoy the herb and liquorice scented dark fruit of his latest offering with grilled meat or a bean cassoulet.
