Tyrrell’s is one of the most famous family owned wineries in Australia, producing exemplary wines since the mid 19th century. The family can trace their history back to William the Conqueror, but first gained a foothold in Oz in the 1840s. They planted vines in the Hunter Valley in 1848, and built a winery there a decade later. Tyrrell’s are renowned for possibly the finest Semillon in the world, and produce many other wines with legendary status. Their list of awards includes Australia’s Best Winery, Winery of the Year 2010, Winemaker of the Year twice (2004 and 2009), 14 out of 19 Trophies at the Sydney Show, and many more! In 1994 Tyrrell’s made their first foray into Heathcote, and this triumphant Shiraz is the result. Let it breathe.
