The wine and its name is inspired by National Geographic's docudrama on Mars, The Future is Red. Winemaker behind it is Barrett Marsalek, who has had wide experience in the Napa, as well as Australia and New Zealand. Plus, he has a great love for the wines of the Old World. The grapes for 'The Future' are from some of his favourite vineyards – in Sonoma's premium Alexander Valley, Lake County and further afield. With a broad range of microclimates and an eclectic range of grapes, Barrett has created a red with deep, ripe fruit, firm tannins for structure, with aroma and freshness too. It makes a warming red any time, but shows at its best with hearty dishes. A warming lasagne, a rich meat or beany casserole, or at your next barbecue.
