Founded in 1849, the Reichsrat Von Buhl estate stands out for quality with its still wines and even a fine fizz. Well, they did poach Bollinger's head winemaker, Mathieu Kauffmann, in 2013. Mathieu is now in overall charge of the cellar and its organic vineyards, bringing in another exceptional winemaker, Gregor Hofer, to continue his fine work. Every vintage, the cellar scores top points for its wines with prestigious publications such as Wine Spectator and Wine Advocate and one wine was included in the World's Top 100. Riesling Nr 1 is bright with pure fruit and well zipped with a delightful echo of lime, pears and peaches. It is thoroughly appetising solo or with gentle dishes such as poached salmon or roast chicken – even Thai curry.

"Standout, crisp, dry Riesling from an exemplary cellar and team of winemakers" Samuel Fishlock
