Maison Dominique Piron Fleurie 2017

Fleurie AOP

A luscious, fruit-filled, seductively silky Beaujolais Cru. This is top vintage Fleurie (though quantity is way down because of hail damage) from Dominique Piron’s superb 14th generation estate. Relish the plush, rounded cherry and blackberry fruit.

Fleurie is the queen of Beaujolais – full of charming, seductive, silky fruit and lifted floral scents. While Beaujolais dropped out of fashion, Fleurie never did. Tasting this pretty, fruit filled 2017, you’ll understand why. It’s from Dominique Piron, whose estate was founded way back, during the reign of Louis XIII. Today it has 95 hectares of vines throughout Beaujolais’ finest villages, a third of them in Morgon. Dominique is the 14th generation and, with no family of his own, he joined up with long-standing friend Julien Revillon. Together they have a vision to produce Beaujolais as fine as any Grand Cru Burgundy. They go to great lengths to achieve that, in the vineyard and in the cellar. Pure Gamay, this red is exuberant and smooth.
