As close as you could hope to come to an authentic Châteauneuf style without paying the premium. Finest Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre from neighbouring vineyards combine beautifully to give herb scented, velvety black fruit, liquorice and spice.

A consistent Gold medal winner, this gorgeous, velvety, southern Rhône red also offers tremendous value. It’s from the only co-operative cellar in Châteauneuf du Pape, owned and run by local growers. The reason this wine is not labelled Châteauneuf (and not twice the price!) is that the grapes are from vineyards next door to the famed appellation. But they share the same rock strewn soil, which promotes superb richness and ripeness – and vines are similarly aged and gnarled, resulting in tiny quantities of concentrated fruit. Created by gifted winemaker Thierry Ferlay, this exceptional Côtes du Rhône is a Top 10 choice for our customers each year. The 2017 is as good as ever – spot-on with rack of lamb, a robust cassoulet or roast duck.
