La Fontana Vecchia Sauvignon Blanc 2018

Vin Varietal

For refreshing Sauvignon Blanc at a great value for money price, we’d thoroughly recommend La Fontana Vecchia. It should be no surprise as Romania has “some of Europe’s greatest cool climate vineyards” (Hugh Johnson). Try the lemony zip of this 2018.

In a world of French and New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc it’s a real thrill to discover a new and delicious example from somewhere quite unexpected – Romania. La Fontana Vecchia is made by one of the country’s top talents, Lorena Deaconu, and her cellar team – their credentials include supplying wine to the Royal Court of Romania. King Michael would no doubt approve of this mouthwatering Sauvignon, the latest in a line of popular wines Lorena has made exclusively for us in the UK. It comes from the Colinele Dobrogei region between the River Danube and the Black Sea, where vines have been grown for centuries. With a mix of tropical fruit and citrus aromas, this wine makes a lovely aperitif, or a top match for salads, vegetable kebabs or seafood.

"Good value Sauvignon Blanc. It’s not trying to be Sancerre or Kiwi, but just gently fruity and crisp" Kirsten Willis
