Ferraton Père et Fils Les Oliviers Saint-Joseph Blanc 2016

Saint-Joseph AOC

This is a superb, single vineyard white from the northern Rhône’s Saint Joseph. Not as prestigious as Hermitage, it’s better value! From a top vintage and an outstanding family estate recently bought by Chapoutier, it’s luscious, rounded and long.

Founded in 1946, Domaine Ferraton has always been highly regarded. Yet since the Chapoutiers have come on board quality has risen a big step higher. The Ferraton family started working with Michel Chapoutier in 1998, the latter buying Domaine Ferraton outright in 2004 but running it very much as an independent concern with the family still at the helm. Oenologist Damien Brisset and the renowned Stéphane Ogier are also part of the ‘super team’ – the result is some impressive wines. Add the 5-Star quality of the 2016 vintage and grapes produced to the highest biodynamic standards, and you’ll understand the sumptuous brilliance you can look forward to. A blend of Marsanne and Roussanne, it’s long aged on its lees for luscious creamy roundness.

"Rich and honeyed on the nose, then plump and round on the palate. Attractive pineapple and melon" Joe Czerwinski
