Ferraton Père et Fils Le Méal Ermitage 2018

Hermitage AOC

From an excellent estate taken over by Chapoutier in 2004, and with input from 5-Star winemaker Stéphane Ogier, this 94-95 point Hermitage has richness, power and concentration. 2018 was a top quality vintage and this red will age magnificently.

Founded in 1946, Domaine Ferraton has always been a highly regarded estate. Yet since the Chapoutiers have come on board quality has rocketed. The Ferraton family started working with Michel Chapoutier in 1998, the latter buying the estate outright in 2004, but running it very much as an independent concern, with the family still at the helm. Oenologist Damien Brisset and the renowned Stéphane Ogier are also part of the domaine’s ‘super team’, and the result is some really impressive wines. Add in the 5-Star quality of the 2018 vintage and grapes produced to the highest biodynamic standards, and you’ll understand the sumptuous richness you can look forward to. Aged 50% in new oak, it is powerfully structured. A superb Hermitage to cellar.

"Full-bodied, powerful, and structured, it has loads of currants, black cherry fruits, tons of spice" Jeb Dunnock
