Since Stéphane Robert and his wife Sandrine founded their domaine in 1994 they have attracted enormous praise from the likes of Decanter, Wine Spectator and Wine Advocate. The 10 hectare property stretches across three prestigious appellations – Cornas, Saint Joseph and Saint Péray – and their wines have become reference points for all three. Stunning complexity, richness, intensity and poise are apparent in every wine. Perhaps that should be of no surprise, when Stéphane was an apprentice at Domaine Jean-Louis Grippat – the beacon of Saint Joseph. He obviously has very natural talent too. Blending 15 parcels of old vines grapes from this tiny region and ageing in well seasoned barrels, this is long, complex and remarkably approachable red.
