The 2017s from this domaine may well be the best vintage we've offered yet. Based in the heart of Gevrey-Chambertin, this estate is run by Florence and her husband Simon, who first adopted organic methods, and are now about to be certified biodynamic too. This is indicative of the painstaking level of care they adopt in the vineyards, and is also evident in the winery. The skilled husband and wife team favour the use of whole bunch fermentation and insist on treating each cuvée separately according to its own needs. You can taste the lengths they go to in the wine. The grapes for this expressive Gevrey are from vines over 60 years old, matured in a quarter new oak for complexity. A delightful red with purity of the fruit that will age well.
