Domaine Dampt Chablis 1er Cru Vaucoupin 2018

Chablis Premier Cru AOC

Fabulous, top-quality Chablis from a tiny, steeply sloping Premier Cru vineyard. It's been made by the three Dampt brothers and father Bernard at the family domaine. Already showing all the rich, mineral edged, citrus flavours that its fans adore.

This is an exemplary Premier Cru and an excellent buy. Experts such as Hugh Johnson argue “Premier Cru Chablis from a good grower is the best value white in Burgundy”. Bernard Dampt comes from a long line of growers, and in 1980 he invested his life savings in buying this estate. Together, he and his three sons – Eric, Emmanuel and Hervé – run the family property, making fine wines from Petit Chablis upwards. Although Chablis is tiny, its influence and fame is enormous, inspiring imitations as far afield as California and Australia. Vaucoupin is one of the steepest Premier Cru slopes, with classic, fossil-rich, limestone soils – resulting in wines of great intensity and chalky minerality. An ideal match for white meats, fish or seafood.
