Dinastía Manzanos Crianza 2009

Navarra DO

The Manzanos brothers are terrific producers both in Rioja and Navarra. They had a special parcel of superb, 11 year old Crianza destined for China. A late cancellation meant our Buyer Beth got first dibs. Enjoy supple berry notes with toasty spice.

If you are a fan of our Spanish reds, you will have very likely enjoyed a few wines from David and Victor Manzanos. Their family have been growers for 200 years and winemaking for 125 of those. They have estates both in Rioja and Navarra and reserve some of the most exciting wines for our Buyer Beth. Most recently she received a call to say that a special parcel of 2009 Navarra Crianza had, in the recent climate, been cancelled. Would she be interested? On tasting it, she certainly was. It's a delicious, supple blend of Tempranillo with Cabernet and Merlot, as Navarra does best. Aged in both French and American barrels for 18 months, it is showing lovely depths of maturity and complexity, with pretty berry fruit too. A treat with chicken.

"Quite a catch! Terrific 11-year-old Crianza, not from Rioja, but a classy mature red from Navarra" Beth Willard
