Concettina Rosso 2020

Terre degli Osci IGT

On the eastern coast, Molise is one of Italy's smallest wine regions. So small, it's often forgotten. Montepulciano is its king of grapes, in this wine blended with Cabernet and Syrah. Named after its winemaker, it's brimful of rustic red fruits.

For a juicy, dark red full of Italian charm, this red will be hard to beat. Its winemaker, Maria Concetta Raimondo, was so pleased with it, she even put her name on the label. It's from Italy's second smallest wine region, Molise, (Valle d'Aosta is the smallest) on the central eastern coast. Amazingly wine was made here in 500 BC, but it was one of the last to gain DOC status. Montepulciano is the star grape in this region, as it is in next-door Abruzzo, and ripens well on the elevated, sunkissed coast. Blended in this red with Cabernet Sauvignon and the deep fruits of spicy Syrah, it makes for a deeply juicy red, with characteristic Molise rustic charm. Roll out the pasta and warm up the ragú or whizz up the pesto, it'll be a hit.

"A new delicious and gulpable red from Italy's ancient Molise. Lots of juicy red fruits" Leo Bassano
