This is an elegant Cru Bourgeois Médoc, with two Golds to its name (and four for the next vintage too!). Now with seven years' age, Château Roquegrave 2014 is showing a complex array of mellow red and dried fruits, with a hint of cedar and spice box.

Welcome to Château Roquegrave – a family owned estate comprising 30 hectares of vineyards planted on a high plateau with a commanding view of the Gironde estuary. With an average age of 25 years, the vines are carefully tended by winemaker and owner Pierre Yves Joannon. 2014 was a very good vintage for the property and for all Bordeaux. A cool August had growers worried, but an exceptionally long Indian Summer saved the day and lovely, well balanced, pretty fruit wines were made. That's certainly the case at Château Roquegrave. Pierre Yves harvested healthy grapes with good intensity and ripeness. Blending Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon and a splash of Petit Verdot, all aged in fine French oak, it's a fine mature claret. Ideal with game.
