There's been immense praise from critics for Bordeaux's 2018 vintage, and rightly so, judging by the wines. Jeb Dunnock wrote, "Bordeaux has another incredible vintage on their hands"; "an exceptional vintage", praised James Suckling; "positively stunning" echoed Antonio Galloni. Margaux performed very well in 2018, and offers some very smart buys indeed, including Château Labégorce. Unlike many of its neighbours Labégorce wasn’t classified in 1855, meaning that the wines are always well priced. With vines on average 30 years old, and several over 100, its vines yield grapes of tremendous concentration, enhanced by ageing for 15 months in 50% new oak. With rich, warm plum, cassis and black olive fruit and firm tannins, this is a keeper.

"A plump and rich Labégorce with a full body, juicy tannins and a long and flavorful finish" James Suckling
