Inland on the eastern side, Alentejo is home to “many of Portugal’s best wines” (FT Magazine). This is an exciting new release from our old friends at Adega de Redondo, a modern cellar that in 2015 was voted best co-operative in Portugal. Founded in 1956 by 14 growers, they have expanded since then, always focusing on the great wines of Alentejo. Much celebrated winemaker Pedro Hipólito heads up the team, a devotee to the region’s fascinating native grape varieties. This wine is made from Aragonez, Trincadeira and Alicante, grown on low yielding vines that are at least 20 years old. This and the low rainfall all add intensity to the flavour of the grapes, while a year in French oak has given this supple red an impressive layer of richness.

"From a hot, dry vintage, this is a gorgeous, rich red, aged in barrel. Great value from Portugal" Jehan Sacaze
