Portugal has so much to offer wine lovers and this is one of the best – for fruit flavour and value. From an award winning Alentejo cellar, headed up by winemaker Pedro Hipólito, this is a rich, barrel aged red, big on spice and intense red fruits.
"From a hot, dry vintage, this is a gorgeous, rich red, aged in barrel. Great value from Portugal"
Jehan Sacaze Buyer for Portugal
Inland on the eastern side, Alentejo is home to “many of Portugal’s best wines” (FT Magazine). This is an exciting new release from our old friends at Adega de Redondo, a modern cellar that in 2015 was voted best co-operative in Portugal. Founded in 1956 by 14 growers, they have expanded since then, always focusing on the great wines of Alentejo. Much celebrated winemaker Pedro Hipólito heads up the team, a devotee to the region’s fascinating native grape varieties. This wine is made from Aragonez, Trincadeira and Alicante, grown on low yielding vines that are at least 20 years old. This and the low rainfall all add intensity to the flavour of the grapes, while a year in French oak has given this supple red an impressive layer of richness.

Laithwaite's began in 1969, when geography student Tony Laithwaite took a job washing bottles in Bordeaux ...
and fell in love with wine and the people who make it. When he borrowed a van to share their delicious wines with
friends and neighbours at home, things went so well that hundreds of little wineries all around the world were soon
queuing to take part. Today we're the UK's No.1 home-delivery wine merchant, with over 1,500 wines to choose from
including red, white, rosé, Champagne, Prosecco, spirits ... you name it. Tony's still at it - and now really good
at washing bottles. Read more
