Sherry is such a tradition in southern Spain that no one thought of making table wines there. Not until Montse Molina, winemaker at the family owned Barbadillo, decided to take up the charge. She’s been championing them ever since, with Golds to show for it. Indeed, this red sold locally has won two! Montse's wines are terrific value – so much flavour and balance. And, unlike with their magnificent traditional sherries, she likes to break the rules and use international grapes. Here she uses juicy Merlot and Cabernet with spicy Shiraz, Tempranillo and a sprinkling of other stars too. Picking at night and cool fermenting, she’s excelled at capturing all the delicious fruit. A charming red for sipping solo, at a barbecue, or with chicken.
