Volnay produces wines that are wonderfully complex and delicate, with a soft fruit scent, all harmony and delight. Especially in the hands of leading grower-négociant Nicolas Potel. Nicolas learned from an early age from his renowned father Gérard, studied, then gained experience in Australia and California. His father's early death meant the family estate had to be sold and Nicolas had to build up from nothing. At his new enterprise Nicolas sources top-quality, old-vine grapes, so his wines are wonderfully intense and expressive. “In the class of the very best that Burgundy can produce,” wrote Jasper Morris MW. With fragrant red fruit and a fine texture, this Volnay shows impressive ripeness, as well as firm tannin. Decant early or cellar.
