Roche de Bellene is the craftsmanship of Nicolas Potel, who learned from his renowned father Gérard, studied in Beaune, then gained experience in Australia and California. His father's early death meant the family estate had to be sold and Nicolas had to build from nothing. At his new enterprise Nicolas sources top quality, old vine grapes, so his wines are intense and expressive. Everything is organically sourced, too – from the grapes in the vineyard to the barrels. Premier Cru Champ Gain stands apart from the rest of the appellation for its elevation and soils, and results in wine with vibrant minerality and citrus elegance. From a vintage "so delicious and refreshing that I predict you will be seduced" (Burghound), this is a fine white.
