Domaine Philippe Colin Chassagne Montrachet Blanc 2019

Chassagne-Montrachet AOP

Critic William Kelley writes of Philippe Colin, "his style is pure and elegant, beautifully defined by site", a domaine that is very much under-the-radar. A Chassagne specialist, his top-vintage 2019 is pristine and bright, with gorgeous ripe fruit.

This outstanding 11.5 hectare domaine lies at the heart of Chassagne-Montrachet, with most holdings Premier Cru and on the Puligny side. The domaine used to be part of Colin-Deleger, but Philippe and his brother, Bruno, decided to go their separate ways in 2004. Since then, Philippe's wines have received much praise: "clearly the domaine flies somewhat under the radar when one considers the quality to be found in the bottle." (WK) His style is very pure, with only a little lees stirring and a light touch of oak (25% new in large-sized barrels for this wine), producing wines with a tight core, grippy minerality and succulent, ripe fruit. You'll find all that with a touch of ginger spice in this fine white from an exemplary, ripe vintage.

"Lovely grip behind, some fleshy white fruit with all the components properly in line. Good length" Inside Burgundy
