Founded in 1830, Joseph Drouhin has been a byword for quality Burgundy for over a century. Neal Martin at Wine Advocate wrote “Drouhin continues to demonstrate what a class act they have become.” Run today by the founder’s four grandchildren, they have a magnificent portfolio of vineyards that extend from Chablis in the north to the Mâconnais, and include marvels like Clos des Mouches. They are firm believers in organic and biodynamic viticulture, part of a philosophy of meticulous attention to detail throughout their range. This fine 1er Cru was gently pressed and fermented using wild yeasts before being treated to 11 months in fine French oak, 25% of that new. Ideally this is a wine to a cellar a few years. Then open early and serve cool.
