The Perrins own one of southern Rhone’s most iconic properties - Château de Beaucastel – renowned for its Châteauneuf-du-Pape. But they also make wines all around the region. Brothers Pierre and Marc, both keen cyclists, discovered Vinsobres while out on a ride. 40km north of Châteauneuf and with terraces at 300-metres altitude it produces excellent, fragrant Syrah and rich, velvety Grenache. Though not as ‘big’ as Châteauneuf, the wines show warm, ripe fruit and spicy, herbal length with great style. 2020 was a very good year with idyllic harvesting conditions allowing each plot to reach perfect maturity. Aromatic black fruits, sweet spices and silky tannins from 18 months ageing in French oak barrels, it’s a great match with a warm stew.

"Stunning. Very well-structured Vinsobres that has a stack of healthy tannins and lovely freshness" James Suckling
