Equidistant from the Adriatic Sea and the Austrian Alps, the vineyards of little known Collio are blessed with a superb temperate climate. Pure warm sunshine during summer days, with refreshingly cool summer nights bring out a fruit intensity, elegance and aromatic quality that will surprise you. The wines are some of the finest in Italy. It’s a small, hilly area (collio means hill) in Friuli, northeast of Venice, and boasts a patchwork of small family vineyards and cellars. One of them was founded by Luigi Valle, friend of Alessandro Gallici. The two have collaborated to create this silky, old vine red, long aged in barrel. With all the complex nuances you would expect from fine Burgundy, this wine is still young. Decant for best results.
