Domaine Confuron-Gindre Bourgogne 2016

Bourgogne AOC

Labelled as simple village Bourgogne, but this top vintage 2016 uses grapes taken from three sites within this domaine’s superb Vosne Romanée vineyards. No wonder this fine red has such lovely depth of bright, silky berry fruit and spicy complexity.

Domaine Confuron Gindre is a sixth generation family estate boasting 11 hectares scattered across Gevrey Chambertin, Nuits Saint Georges and Vosne Romanée. We say ‘boast’, but they are a modest family, devoted to making fine wines, true to their terroir. Respect for the vineyard is what inspires François Confuron in his winemaking, with only natural additions made to vines, and timing dictated largely by the lunar calendar. This fine red Burgundy uses Pinot Noir taken from three small plots in Vosne Romanée, with vines up to 80 years old. This will account for the gorgeous depth of flavour captured in this wine, guided by a gentle hand in the winemaking. A short passage in barrel adds to the rich nuances of flavour. Open early or cellar.

"I really love the passion from this young winemaker. A wine with such lovely fruit and minerality" Jehan Sacaze
