There is huge praise for this estate based in Vosne Romanée. The Grivot family came to Burgundy from the Jura about 120 years ago. Gradually, over time, the Grivots have been buying up plots of the finest terroir and making wines of even greater finesse. Current owner Etienne Grivot studied viticulture and winemaking in Beaune before working in California and other French regions. His children are now ready to take over. Wine Advocate’s Neal Martin describes his visit thus: “One of the most consistent and pleasurable tastings, wines that brim over with complexity, terroir expression and deliciousness.” This fabulous Coteaux Bourguignons is pure Gamay – nothing like generic Beaujolais but a red with wonderful depth, intensity and ageability.
