Wynns to this day remains one of the best known and loved names of Australian wine. Its top wines are some of the finest from the continent too. It was all started by John Riddoch, who arrived in Coonawarra in 1861 and by 1891 had extensive vineyards planted on the region's now famous terra rossa soils. Samuel Wynn and son David, winemakers from Melbourne, took it over in the 1950s and slowly, but surely, they have nurtured a stellar rise in the reputation of Wynn's outstanding wines. The Gables is crafted from small parcels of hand picked Cabernet Sauvignon. The most famous red grape of the region, Cabernet produces wines with an elegance, depth and finesse close to fine claret. Open this wine early and enjoy with fine cuts of red meat.
