Cuilleron is a fine third generation family estate, founded in 1920 by Yves Cuilleron's grandfather. His uncle took it over in 1960, while Yves pursued a career in cars! However, when his uncle retired with no successor, Yves couldn't resist the draw. He has extended the vineyards to include many other top appellations of the northern Rhône - from Crozes Hermitage to Saint Joseph. For all his wines, terroir is of the greatest importance. His aim is to optimise each of his superbly situated vineyards, all on steep slopes, carved out by the winding Rhône river. As winemaker, his aim is to do as little as possible, simply to guide - natural yeasts, with fermentation, lees stirring and ageing for this fine Condrieu all in seasoned oak barrels.
