The Shiraz the Aussies keep for themselves -

on UK shores at last ... but only 1,000 cases

Subject: This one-off Shiraz deal WILL NOT wait...

Hi Tony,

Sorry for the late email, but this is ‘now or never’ time. I’m at the Tyrrell’s winery — yep, that Tyrrell’s — one of the biggest quality names Down Under. 5 red stars from critic James Halliday: “the best of the best”.

They’ve just whispered to me that they’ve a few cases, and I do mean a few, of their Rufus Stone 2014 Shiraz, and if we move right now they’re ours.

That’s the Shiraz that’s won 75 medals and trophies in just 18 vintages. You know, the one that’s named after the spot where their medieval ancestor Sir Walter Tyrell accidentally shot an arrow killing King William Rufus.

Pride and joy stuff they normally keep for themselves. Velvety rich, ripe plum and blackberry, liquorice and spice. Chocolaty almost. The last time we saw it here was back in 2002. We’re only offered it because they want to get the next vintage onto Aussie shelves. Which means we get a brilliant price. It’s next-level Shiraz, drop-dead gorgeous and a UK exclusive. But I need to give them the “yes” right now.

P.S. Tony’s “yes” came back straight away. The wine’s with us now ... but those cases won’t last long at all.
