Les Hauts de Morin-Langaran
Listed among the top 100 wines in the South of France, Les Hauts de Morin-Langaran is a fine example of the Picpoul grape. Formerly used mainly for Vermouth, Picpoul’s enjoying a surge in popularity – it’s the new Pinot Grigio, only more interesting!
Burgundian finesse, Chablis’ mineral freshness and superb value – this superb Chardonnay has it all. It’s from Burgundy-born friends Christian Collovray and Jean-Luc Terrier, who bought an estate in Pouilly Fuissé, then did the same in the Pyrenees.
Christophe Gadais cut his teeth in Sancerre, mastering vibrant, mineral laced whites. Since moving back to the family domaine, he’s turned his hand to “ripe, rich and intense” (Wine International) sur lie Muscadet. His top cuvée is dazzlingly crisp.
Crisp, ripe and fragrant, Los Hermanos is a class act. It’s from a 200 year old family estate with a very modern approach to winemaking. This accounts for its brilliant fresh pear and apple fruit balanced by a gentle toastiness from oak fermentation.
This off-dry aromatic Riesling comes from the oldest boutique family winery on New Zealand’s South Island, one that beat even Cloudy Bay to world class quality. The Aussies make ultra appetising, lime fresh Rieslings. Now taste it the Kiwi way.
If you’re a fan of rich, dark Corsiero, stand by for the turbo charged Purosangue (‘thoroughbred’) edition. It’s deeper and more powerful – the Ferrari of the original. Top winemaker Mario Ercolino is behind this big, oak matured, spicy, fruit red.
This juicy, fruit filled 2018 is the true taste of quality Beaujolais. Made from Gamay grapes grown on 50 year old vines on the superior Villages hillsides, the wine has lovely depth and intensity. A terrific red from a 14th generation estate.
Top Portuguese wine consultant Paulo Laureano is in charge at the Ribafreixo estate in the Alentejo. Having worked in his homeland and Australia, he excels at capturing all the luscious fruit. Barrel and bottle aged, this wine is rich and complex.
Black Stump has ignited the flame of enthusiasm under the previously obscure Durif grape. The Reserve however is pure Shiraz, selected from the vintage’s best performing region – the Clare Valley in 2017. This is a silken, dense fruit and spice gem.
The dense, luscious Waxed Bat Reserve is from remarkable winemaker Opi Sadler. He takes Cabernet and Malbec from the best, highest vineyards and long ages the wine in barrel. Waxed Bat’s hallmark velvet black fruit, taken a notch richer and deeper.
Laithwaite's began in 1969, when geography student Tony Laithwaite took a job washing bottles in Bordeaux ...
and fell in love with wine and the people who make it. When he borrowed a van to share their delicious wines with
friends and neighbours at home, things went so well that hundreds of little wineries all around the world were soon
queuing to take part. Today we're the UK's No.1 home-delivery wine merchant, with over 1,500 wines to choose from
including red, white, rosé, Champagne, Prosecco, spirits ... you name it. Tony's still at it - and now really good
at washing bottles. Read more
